It’s nice to see some of the lesser-knowns being appreciated.

The work of influential designer Wallace Berman receive their first major retrospective at the Camden Arts Centre next month, almost 30 years after his death.

Berman was a key figure in the Californian Beat scene of the 1950s and 1960s, running a mail-art publication called Semina that included works by William S Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Jean Coucteau, and Charles Bukowski, among others. Semina’s design was radical, relying heavily on found materials and photographs.
